Find Out What We Love About Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies for short, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. This low-shedding breed has a long, beautiful, silky coat and is often recommended for people with allergies. Yorkies usually weigh no more than 7 pounds, yet they have a big-dog attitude that can be both feisty and bossy. But their sweet temperament and the deep bond they create with their family are what win people over. Their love of cuddling and staying right by your side is the icing on the cake. Most families find that Yorkies fit right in. If you live in the Monroe, Louisiana area, finding a reputable Yorkie breeder can be challenging, since there are so few responsible breeders nationwide. That's why we're so proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Monroe. We're committed to giving every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

Why Our Puppies Make the Best Companions

At The Puppy House, we take care to breed and raise our Yorkies the right way. For us, the basics are only the starting point. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines that are known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of space for playing and socializing.

From the start, every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Another important step is socialization, which helps our puppies build good behavior and habits as they grow. We let our puppies play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and they get lots of exercise along the way.

We welcome you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you're able to. That way, you can see where your puppy was raised, spend time with our dogs, and meet us face to face. Placing our Yorkies in new homes is something we take seriously, and it's more than a one-time sale for us. Our favorite part is making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

All of our puppies get their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before they go home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Monroe, Louisiana: Costs and Timing

Ground transport to your door

Monroe families pick this one more than any other. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates from the road. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. Louisiana falls in our national delivery tier at a flat $450, and because the Deep South is at the end of the route, with Monroe 801 miles from the farm, plan on two to three days from departure rather than the next day service the East Coast gets. The van that comes to Monroe also stops in , including Ruston LA, West Monroe LA, Claiborne LA, Bastrop LA, Crossett AR, Swartz LA, Winnsboro LA, Brownsville LA, Rayville LA, Richwood LA, Sterlington LA, North Crossett AR, Bawcomville LA, Lakeshore LA, Olla LA, West Crossett AR, Banks Springs LA, Start LA, Clarks LA, Wisner LA, Epps LA, Marion LA, Mangham LA, Gilbert LA, Mer Rouge LA, Huttig AR, and Grayson LA, and the fee is the same anywhere in Ouachita Parish.

Flight nanny

A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin of a commercial flight, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and never in cargo. Handoff happens at baggage claim, usually the same day. For Monroe, we would fly the puppy into Monroe Regional Airport, and South Arkansas Regional Airport at Goodwin Field. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds with the carrier, which no Yorkie comes close to, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. Flight nanny is quoted per flight and costs more than ground, and everyone involved needs some flexibility if weather pushes a departure.

Picking up at the farm

Come to Sugarcreek by appointment and take the puppy home yourself. It's 15 to 17 hours each way from Monroe, so this is the least common choice, but a few families build it into a trip north. You get to see where the puppy was raised, go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee at the kitchen table, and leave with a small bag of the food the puppy has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

What we usually suggest

Ground transport is the sensible pick for nearly every Louisiana address, Monroe included. It's the cheaper of the two long distance options, it ends at your front door instead of an airport curb, and a Yorkie travels well in a van with a driver who stops on a schedule. Families who want the puppy home in a single day often go with a flight nanny instead. One breed note worth knowing either way: young Yorkies can drop their blood sugar after a stressful stretch or a missed meal, so transport keeps them on small frequent feedings the whole way, and we ask you to do the same for the first few months.
