Yorkshire Terrier Puppies for Sale in Santa Cruz, CA

Discover Why We're So Fond of Yorkies
Here at The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also called Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts. This breed is known for its long, beautiful, silky coat, and because it sheds very little, it's often recommended for people with allergies. Most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, but their big-dog attitude can be feisty and bossy. Still, it's their sweet nature and the deep bond they share with their family that win most people over. Plus, they love cuddling and staying close all the time, which makes them even more special. They make a great fit for most families. It can be challenging to find reputable Yorkie breeders in the Santa Cruz, California area, since responsible breeders are few and far between across the country. That's exactly why we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Santa Cruz. Our hope is that every family can have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why So Many Families Choose Our Puppies
Here at The Puppy House, we breed and raise our Yorkies the right way. Our standards go far beyond the basics. All the adult dogs in our program are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Each dog in our care is well looked after and has plenty of room to play and socialize.
Every puppy we raise goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first weeks of life. Socialization is another important step, and it builds the foundation for good behavior and habits as they grow. They play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's wonderful socialization, and they get plenty of exercise too.
We welcome you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you're able to. This gives you a chance to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, since to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love forming new friendships, staying in touch, and seeing our pups grow up in loving homes.
Before your puppy comes home, they receive their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.
Yorkie Puppy Delivery to Santa Cruz, California: Costs, Timing, and Airports
There are three ways home, and for Santa Cruz the choice is usually between the last two.
Farm pickup. Families are welcome in Sugarcreek by appointment. Driving it from Santa Cruz means 2172 miles and 42 to 44 hours behind the wheel in each direction, so the families who visit nearly always fly into Cleveland or Columbus and drive about an hour and a half out into Tuscarawas County. That only makes sense if you were coming east anyway. When it does work out, you see the property, meet the parents where possible, and we go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and guarantee at the kitchen table. The puppy leaves with a bag of the food it has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.
Ground transport. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, in an individual carrier, with a veterinary check before departure and updates from the road. The fee to California is a flat $450, whether the address is in Santa Cruz or in , including Live Oak CA, Scotts Valley CA, Soquel CA, Capitola CA, Rio del Mar CA, Ben Lomond CA, Aptos CA, Pleasure Point CA, Twin Lakes CA, Felton CA, Seacliff CA, Bonny Doon CA, Brookdale CA, Mount Hermon CA, Pasatiempo CA, Lompico CA, Zayante CA, and Paradise Park CA. Vans leave on Tuesdays, and the West Coast run takes two to three days depending on the route, so treat any arrival window as approximate until it's confirmed by phone.
Flight nanny. This is the one we usually recommend for Santa Cruz. A trained handler keeps the puppy in the cabin beside them for the whole flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and sends photos and video along the way. Most of these deliveries finish in a single day. Because California sits three hours behind Ohio, a morning departure often means an early afternoon handoff your time, and that handoff happens at baggage claim rather than at the gate. Santa Cruz County families meet their nanny at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport, and Monterey Regional Airport. Flight nanny costs more than ground and is quoted per flight, since the price depends on the route and the date. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, needs a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, and needs to weigh under 20 pounds including the carrier. A Yorkshire Terrier puppy at two or three pounds isn't close to that limit, which is part of why the breed travels so well in the cabin.
Timing matters more in California than it does most places. For a midsummer arrival in Santa Cruz we aim for early in the day and ask you to have the car cool and a water bowl ready. Toy breed puppies also run their blood sugar down on a travel day, so a small meal soon after you get home matters more than it would with a bigger dog.
