Find Out Why We Adore Yorkies

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts. Their coat is long, silky, and beautiful, and because it sheds very little, Yorkies are often recommended for people with allergies. They may be tiny, typically weighing 7 pounds or less, but Yorkies have a feisty, bossy, big-dog attitude. Still, it's their sweet nature and the deep bond they share with their family that win most people over. Their love of cuddling and being close by all the time is the icing on the cake. They make a great fit for most families. Finding a trustworthy Yorkie breeder in the Missoula, Montana area isn't easy, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. For that reason, we take great pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Missoula. Our hope is that every family can have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

What Makes Our Puppies the Best

When it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies, we do things the right way at The Puppy House. We hold ourselves to a much higher standard than the basics. Every adult dog we own is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Each of our dogs is well cared for and has lots of room to play and be social.

All our puppies receive Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises we do in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another essential step, and it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as puppies grow. Our puppies get to play and explore in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's good exercise for them too.

If possible, we invite you to come visit us and choose your puppy in person. That way, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take the placement of our Yorkies seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. It means a lot to us to make new friends, keep in touch, and watch our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, every puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

How Our Puppies Travel to Missoula, Montana

Flight nanny, the option we usually suggest for Missoula

Given the distance, this is what most Montana families choose. A trained handler carries the puppy in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat beside them, in the cabin and never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Nanny flights usually start and end on the same day. For Missoula, we send puppies through Missoula Montana Airport, and Bert Mooney Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, all of which a Yorkie clears easily. Flight nanny is quoted per flight since the cost follows the airfare, and Montana winters mean building a little flexibility into the date in case of weather delays.

Home delivery by ground

A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Montana falls in the national tier at a flat $450. Transport leaves Ohio on Tuesdays, and a run this far west needs two to three days on the road depending on the route. Missoula is 1663 miles from Sugarcreek, and the same trip reaches , including Kalispell MT, Orchard Homes MT, Hamilton MT, Lolo MT, Ronan MT, Stevensville MT, East Missoula MT, Frenchtown MT, Bonner-West Riverside MT, Seeley Lake MT, Pinesdale MT, Corvallis MT, Superior MT, St. Ignatius MT, Darby MT, Wye MT, Clinton MT, Carlton MT, Victor MT, Florence MT, Arlee MT, and Piltzville MT. Ground works well for families in Missoula County who are outside easy reach of an airport, since the van comes to your door rather than meeting you at a terminal.

Pickup at the farm

You're welcome to come to Sugarcreek by appointment, meet the puppy where it was raised, and go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee in person. It's a long way from Missoula, 32 to 34 hours of driving one way. Mostly this suits families already traveling east. If you do come, the puppy goes home with a bag of its current food, a toy, and a blanket that smells like its littermates.

One detail about this breed shapes how it travels. Yorkie puppies are small enough that a missed meal after a stressful day can drop their blood sugar, so both our transport partners and our nannies keep to frequent small meals on the way. Plan on three or four little meals a day for the first months at home, especially through the first week while the puppy settles in.
