Explore Why We Love Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, also called Yorkies, are especially close to our hearts at The Puppy House. This low-shedding breed has a long, beautiful, silky coat and is often recommended for people with allergies. Small as they are at 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family are what really win people over. The fact that they love to cuddle and stay close all the time is the icing on the cake. They usually fit right in with most families. Since there are so few responsible breeders across the country, finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area can be challenging. For this reason, we're proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkie puppies to families in Fort Smith. Our hope is that every family can have a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Here's What Sets Our Puppies Apart

Here at The Puppy House, we do things the right way when it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies. We hold ourselves to standards that go well beyond the basics. Every adult dog in our program is genetically tested and comes from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are all well cared for and have plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy we raise goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first weeks of life. Socialization is another important step that helps our puppies develop good behavior and habits as they grow. Out in the backyard, our puppies play and explore alongside kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it keeps them active too.

If you can, we'd love for you to come see us and pick out your puppy in person. It's a chance to see our home, meet our dogs, and get to know us face to face. We treat placing our Yorkies as more than a one-time sale, and we take it seriously. We love meeting new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our puppies grow up in loving homes.

Every puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam before going home. You can rest easy knowing you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

How Your Yorkie Puppy Travels to Fort Smith, Arkansas

Three ways run from Sugarcreek to Fort Smith, and the right one depends mostly on how soon you want the puppy home and how you feel about a long drive.

Home delivery by ground

Most Fort Smith families choose this. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a custom climate controlled van, each puppy in a carrier of its own, with a veterinary check before the van pulls out and word from the driver as it travels. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays. The flat fee to Arkansas is $450, and with Fort Smith 779 miles out, most families have the puppy in their arms about two days after departure, sometimes three depending on the route the van takes. Drivers on that trip also stop in , including Van Buren AR, Greenwood AR, Poteau OK, Sallisaw OK, Mena AR, Barling AR, Pocola OK, Roland OK, Waldron AR, Heavener OK, Muldrow OK, Spiro OK, Arkoma OK, Panama OK, Brushy OK, Mansfield AR, Talihina OK, Wister OK, Shady Point OK, Brent OK, Hackett AR, Howe OK, Rock Island OK, Remy OK, Hartford AR, Huntington AR, Akins OK, Bonanza AR, Keota OK, and McCurtain OK, so the price doesn't move if you're elsewhere in Sebastian County or a few miles outside town.

For a puppy this small, the van has one advantage worth naming. Young Yorkies need frequent small meals to keep their blood sugar steady, and a ground transport schedule builds those stops in.

Flight nanny

A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin of a commercial flight, never in cargo, in an airline approved soft carrier under the seat, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Most flight nanny deliveries are done the same day. From Fort Smith, the airports that make sense for a handoff are Fort Smith Regional Airport, and Northwest Arkansas National Airport.

Yorkshire Terriers clear the in cabin requirements easily, since the limit is 20 pounds including the carrier and an eight week old Yorkie weighs a couple of pounds. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. You need a little flexibility in case weather delays a flight. Flight nanny is quoted per trip and costs more than ground delivery.

Pickup at the farm

You're welcome to come to Sugarcreek by appointment, meet the puppy where it was raised, and go over the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee at the kitchen table. From Fort Smith that's 15 to 17 hours of driving each way, so realistically two days on the road plus a hotel. Some families make a trip of it. Most don't, and that's fine.

What we usually suggest for Fort Smith

Ground delivery is the answer for nearly everyone. At $450 it is the least complicated option, it costs less than a flight nanny, and nobody has to drive to an airport with a carrier. If you would rather have the puppy home in one day instead of two, ask about a flight nanny when we talk. The method, the timing, and the fee all get settled on the phone after the puppy is reserved.
