Why We Love Yorkshire Terriers

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a breed that's very dear to us. Yorkies have a beautiful, long, silky coat, and since they shed very little, they're often recommended for people with allergies. Even though they typically weigh 7 pounds or less, Yorkies have a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. However, what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their love of cuddling and staying close all the time is the cherry on top. They make a great fit for most families. Responsible breeders are few and far between across the country, which makes finding a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Palm Bay, Florida area a challenge. That's why we're so proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Palm Bay. We want every family to have the chance to own a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

See What Sets Our Yorkie Puppies Apart

At The Puppy House, we care about breeding and raising Yorkies the right way. We aim much higher than the basics. All of our adult dogs are genetically tested and come from strong bloodlines known for their great temperaments. Every one of our dogs is well cared for, and each has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Our puppies all go through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), which involves gentle handling exercises in the first few weeks of life. Socialization matters just as much, since it lays the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. In the backyard, our puppies play and explore with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. This is great socialization, and it gives them plenty of exercise too.

We'd be happy to have you visit and pick out your puppy in person if you can. During your visit, you can see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take great care in placing our Yorkies, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends, keeping in touch, and watching our pups grow up in loving homes.

Before going home, each puppy receives their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam. You can rest assured that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Getting Your Puppy From Sugarcreek to Palm Bay, Florida

Families are welcome to pick up in person at the farm by appointment. From Palm Bay that means 863 miles on the road and 16 to 18 hours of driving each way, a two day trip for most Floridians. The families who make it come for the visit as much as the puppy, since it's the one way to walk the property, meet the parent dogs, and go over the health records and microchip registration face to face.

Ground transport is what most Florida families use. A professional pet transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, with an individual carrier, a veterinary check before departure, and updates along the way. Transport leaves Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and Florida runs take two to three days depending on the route and the stops before yours. Florida falls in our regional pricing tier at a flat $350, which is the same fee we charge Pennsylvania and Georgia even though the drive is several times longer. That rate covers Palm Bay, , including Grant-Valkaria FL, Melbourne Beach FL, and Malabar FL, and any other address in Brevard County.

Flight nanny is the answer when you want the puppy home fast. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, and hands it to you at baggage claim. Most of these deliveries finish the same day. For Palm Bay, nannies fly into Melbourne Orlando International Airport, and Vero Beach Regional Airport. The puppy needs to be at least eight weeks old, under 20 pounds including the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus some flexibility on your end if weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight rather than by tier. The farther down the peninsula you are, the faster the driving miles pile up, and the extra money can buy back a full day.

Two things about this breed are worth knowing before travel day. A grown Yorkshire Terrier tops out around seven pounds, so the 20 pound in cabin limit is never a problem, and a puppy this small can dip low on blood sugar after a long day of travel. Small frequent meals in the first days home are the fix, and we go over that with you before your puppy leaves. If you're meeting a nanny at an airport in July, park close and get the carrier into air conditioning quickly rather than letting it sit in a hot garage.
