Learn What We Love About Yorkies

Yorkshire Terriers, or Yorkies for short, have a special place in our hearts at The Puppy House. This breed's gorgeous, long, silky coat sheds very little, so it's often suggested for people with allergies. Even though most Yorkies weigh 7 pounds or less, they often act like big dogs, with an attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But the real reason people fall for Yorkies is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. The cherry on top is their love of cuddling and staying close all the time. They're well suited to most families. Finding reputable Yorkie breeders in the Amherst, New York area can be challenging, since there are so few responsible breeders across the country. That's the reason we take so much pride in offering our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Amherst. We want every family to enjoy a healthy, well-raised puppy they can count on.

Why Our Puppies Make the Best Companions

At The Puppy House, we take care to breed and raise our Yorkies the right way. We hold ourselves to a much higher standard than the basics. We only work with genetically tested adult dogs from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Each dog in our care is well looked after and has plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step, laying the groundwork for good behavior and habits as they grow. Playtime happens in the backyard, where our puppies explore with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. It's great socialization, and it's a fun way for them to get exercise too.

You're invited to visit us and choose your puppy in person if you can. You'll be able to look around our home, see our dogs, and meet us face to face. We don't take placing our Yorkies lightly, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends and keeping in touch so we can watch our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy leaves with their first round of vaccinations and a thorough veterinary exam completed. You can trust that you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to be part of your family.

Yorkshire Terrier Delivery to Amherst, New York

There are three ways to get your puppy home to Amherst, and we settle on one during a phone call after the deposit is in.

Farm pickup in Sugarcreek. New York is one of the states where driving out makes sense for a lot of families. From Amherst you're looking at 4 to 6 hours each way, 229 miles on the road. You get to see the facility, meet the parents, and go over the health records and microchip registration at the kitchen table. Visits are by appointment.

Ground delivery. A professional pet transport service drives your puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in its own carrier, with updates along the way. New York is a flat $350. Transport leaves on Tuesdays, and New York is an early stop on the eastern route, so most families here are holding their puppy the next day. That matters more than it sounds for this breed, since a Yorkshire Terrier has a single silky coat with no undercoat and not much defense against a cold February morning. The van stays temperature controlled the whole way. Around Erie County the driver also delivers to , including Clarence NY, Eggertsville NY, Pendleton NY, University at Buffalo NY, and Williamsville NY, and the whole arrangement suits anyone who would rather not deal with an airport.

Flight nanny. A trained handler carries your puppy in the cabin, under the seat in an airline approved soft carrier, and never in cargo. Most flights are done same day. For Amherst, we meet families at baggage claim at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, and Niagara Falls International Airport. Yorkshire Terriers clear the twenty pound carrier limit without any trouble at four to seven pounds, so the breed is about as easy as it gets on a plane. We arrange the health certificate before travel, and the puppy has to be at least eight weeks old. Cost runs above ground delivery and is quoted per flight.

What we suggest for Amherst. If 4 to 6 hours each way is a day you can spare, come get the puppy yourself. It's a pretty drive. You'll learn more in an hour at the farm than in a dozen text messages. If that's more road than you want, ground delivery at $350 is the sensible choice. Flight nanny is for families who want the puppy in their arms in a matter of hours.
