Learn Why We Adore Yorkies

At The Puppy House, Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, hold a special place in our hearts. The breed is often recommended for people with allergies thanks to its long, beautiful, silky coat that sheds very little. For a dog that typically weighs 7 pounds or less, the Yorkie has a big-dog attitude that can be feisty and bossy. But what really wins people over is their sweet nature and the deep bond they form with their family. Their fondness for cuddling and staying close all the time is the icing on the cake. They make a great fit for most families. Tracking down a reputable Yorkie breeder in the Durham, North Carolina area can be challenging, since responsible breeders are so rare across the country. That's why we're so proud to offer our carefully bred Yorkshire Terrier puppies to families in Durham. We're committed to giving every family access to a healthy, well-raised puppy they can rely on.

What Makes Our Puppies Stand Out

When it comes to breeding and raising Yorkies, we do things the right way at The Puppy House. Our standards go much further than the basics. We only work with genetically tested adult dogs from strong bloodlines known for great temperaments. Our dogs are well cared for and have plenty of room to play and socialize.

Every puppy takes part in Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a series of gentle handling exercises done in the first few weeks of life. Socialization is another important step in helping our puppies develop good behavior and habits as they grow. Our puppies spend time playing and exploring in the backyard with kids, adults, and our own vaccinated adult dogs. Besides being great socialization, it gives them plenty of exercise.

We welcome you to visit us and pick out your puppy in person if you're able to. You'll be able to see our home and our dogs and meet us face to face. We take placing our Yorkies seriously, and to us it's more than a one-time sale. We love making new friends and staying in touch as our pups grow up in loving homes.

Each puppy gets their first round of vaccinations and a thorough exam from a veterinarian before going home. You can be sure you're bringing home a healthy, happy Yorkie who's ready to become part of your family.

Puppy Delivery to Durham, North Carolina by Road, Air, or Farm Pickup

Ground transport carries most North Carolina puppies home. It's the option we suggest first for Durham. A professional pet transport service carries the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in its own carrier, with a vet check before it leaves and updates as it travels. North Carolina sits in our regional pricing tier, so the flat fee is $350, in Durham and in , including Roxboro NC, Butner NC, Gorman NC, and Rougemont NC alike. Vans leave Sugarcreek on Tuesdays, and at 345 miles from the farm your address is an early stop on the route, which usually means the puppy is in your arms the following day rather than three days later.

Flight nanny is the faster choice and is quoted per flight rather than at a flat rate. A trained handler carries the puppy in the cabin the entire time, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim, almost always the same day. The easiest arrivals for Durham County families are Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and Piedmont Triad International Airport. A Yorkie makes this simple on the paperwork side, since the airline limit is 20 pounds including the carrier and an eight week old Yorkshire Terrier is nowhere near that. We arrange the health certificate before travel.

Farm pickup is the third option. The drive from Durham is 6 to 8 hours each way, and a fair number of North Carolina families treat it as a weekend. Come to Sugarcreek by appointment, meet the puppy where it grew up, and we go through vaccination records, microchip registration, and the guarantee at the kitchen table. You leave with a bag of the food the puppy has been eating, a toy, and a blanket that smells like the litter.

The method, the timing, and the fee all get confirmed on a phone call after a puppy is reserved.
